In our hurried
world of working parents and day care, children may well be missing much of
their childhood. The aim of
Sheltering Arms is to meet the growing needs of children today. We recognize that in order to do this, we
must work closely with parents and support their needs as well.
Our staff is readily accessible
to parents and trained to listen carefully to their concerns and
suggestions. We expect our services to evolve as the needs and lives
of parents and children grow and change.
We offer lectures, round-table
discussions and support meetings on various pertinent family topics during
the year.
In addition to these services, a
small library of books on family issues is available to parents.
Food and nurturing a child go
hand-in-hand. We provide simple and nutritious (often organic and mostly
vegetarian) snacks and lunches. Mealtimes are begun quietly together
with a verse of gratitude. Courtesy and good manners are modeled and
imitated in a quiet atmosphere of social interaction.
